My Favourite Cookbooks
As I am sure you have come to realize, I like to cook. I also love taking cookbooks out of the library, book marking the recipes I want to make and then if there are enough that I really enjoy, buying the book. To get my list of books I go to the local bookstore and write down all the books they have featured at the front of the store.
At any given time, I’ll have 3 or 4 books sitting on the kitchen counter with little pieces of paper sticking out indicating the recipe I want to make. My criteria for choosing the recipes are as follows:
. number of ingredients required – a long list of ingredients is a big deterrent for me
. length of time to prepare – for me, any recipe requiring more than 45 minutes to prepare is too much
. ingredients on hand – if I have a few of the ingredients on hand I am more likely to make the recipe
. kid-friendly – I evaluate whether or not my kids will eat the recipe before I make it.
Here are a few of the books I have made recipes from that I really enjoyed:
My Darling Lemon Thyme – the lemongrass tempeh is our favourite but I make it with tofu
Love real food : more than 100 feel-good vegetarian favorites to delight the senses and nourish the body – there are several recipes we like
Green kitchen at home : quick and healthy vegetarian food for every day – I make the banana buckwheat bread all the time
The modern cook’s year : over 250 vibrant vegetable recipes to see you through the seasons – there are several recipes we like
These are just a few of the books I have recently made recipes from. I have pile of 3 more on the kitchen counter I’ll be cooking my way through over the next few weeks. Stay tuned for details.
I have lots of cookbooks on hand, here are the ones on my bookshelf that I use on a regular basis:
My New Roots
Oh She Glows
Chickpea Flour Does It All
Vegan Yum Yum
Crank’s Fast Food
